This has to be my most passionate item for travel. I have a deep love for my TEVA’s, they have out lasted 2 marriages, 27 countries, hundreds of adventures and a multitude of memories, too many to even start to list.
I’m not lying when I say that I cannot survive, let alone travel without my loyal, stable, hard core and reliable TEVA’s. Without TEVA’s there is no Cathy.
These hardy and loyal shoes have climbed hot recently erupted volcanoes with limited visibility for 4 hours, white water rafted down the Zambezi, hiked across cliffs in Greece, dived with sharks, tramped across at least 20 cities, been worn in deserts, on boats to evenings out with a fancy dress, I actually can’t think of anything they haven’t done. You can wear them with a bikini, with a gorgeous yellow dress to dinner on the beach in the Galapagos or to a rave in Ibiza.
The shoes for the woman who does and has it all.
Do you have some? if the answer is ‘no’, then your adventure is just starting
Fairytrail is a fantastic app for people who work remotely, travel frequently, move often, van life, or digital nomads to name a few. The best thing is that it isn’t just a hookup app, it’s actually one where you can meet other lovers of travel and explore just like you in the location you’re in. You can meet a mate, fall in love, or just meet a local who is an avid traveler who can show you around or form a friendship. I use it and have met like-minded people from all over the world. Download it from here and get a discount.

One of my favorite and most used Apps, I can confidently say I have used the Trainline app for both rail and bus trips in over 19 countries and it has been an absolute blessing. It’s Europe’s leading train company with over 210 rail and coach companies across 45 countries. Without Trainline and the special offers and split tickets they offer my travels would have cost me so much more. Definitely follow the link and download if you are heading to the UK or Europe.
Invented and designed by a group member of SWST, this is one of the best apps for us women to travel solo because it allows women to connect with background-checked female hosts while traveling in over 40 countries, and this number is growing!
The best way to save money, feel safe, and make new friends. 10/10/ I am only sharing this because I know Tess who is the founder and I know she has done the hard yards with solo international travel. She totally gets what it’s like to travel solo, get lonely, worry who is going to watch your bag while you go for a swim, eat solo at night, sit at a bar solo, go to a live concert and, well, I think you get it now. I trust her and trust that the people she vets for her site are trustworthy and reliable, go try something new, because life is becoming a bore. Less Netflix more HerHouse.
I love this concept so much that we want to offer an extra 10% off HerHouse memberships here.
I quickly learned that having my own sim and paying international roaming was not something to do long term. I actually did this for way too long and every time I landed in a new country and it didn’t connect I got super frustrated and sometimes lost. I also got frustrated every time I paid the bill.
We rely on our phones so much and to have no connectivity can make a huge difference. At one point I carried two phones with different numbers, for some reason I was so hung up on keeping my Australian number which I had had for nearly 18 years. But when I traded both phones in and got the new Iphone it came (unlike the Android) with one sim and one eSim option so I had to decide what I was going to do. I had an aussie number, UK number and one had to go. I did my research and learnt I could have it all. I ended up with UK, Aussie and an eSim (with no number, data only). This little beauty came in the form of airalo. And what a game changer that has been for me.
You can choose local eSims, Regional or Global. It’s never let me down and even once when I didn’t load it properly they gave me a full credit for what I had spent, I was stoked. “Airalo is the world’s first eSIM store that solves the pain of high roaming bills by giving you access to 200+ eSIMs (digital SIM cards) around the world”. The app is so easy to use. top up is simple and each time you top up you get a credit, you can save sims from different countries, refer and earn, and move up tiers to gain more benefits.

I had moved to Bristol for a house sitting gig and decided to work for a while and get some more pounds under me (l0l, the UK can do that). I have a british passport but to work I needed to get a UK bank account and NIN.
I was referred to Revolut by an East London mate who lives in Hungary so jumped on and set up my account, easy as.
I now use Revolut for all my global transactions. Plus the app has all this really cool shit that my boring old Australian account didn’t have, such as…high security, crypto, high interest saving account that is easy to transfer money in and out of instantly. Investment options, Crypto, actually I am not a fan of Crypto but one night when I was bored I bought 50 quid of Crypto and it went up 700%, shame it was spread over 8 different portfolios, I would have made a killing. Anyway, it also has shopping, charities you can donate to, city breaks, eSims, and a lifestyle option and nearby rewards. It’s literally the coolest bank App I’ve seen. If you’re global check out Revolut, they have virtual cards and cool metal cards. FYI I make no commission on this, but I love to share.
